January Driest in Decades – Severe Drought Continues

The amount of water flowing into the Highland Lakes in January was the lowest for that month since the 1950s. The lower Colorado River basin is in its seventh year of a severe drought, and the Highland Lakes remain near historic low levels…Lakes Travis and Buchanan, the region’s major reservoirs, now hold about 762,000 acre-feet, or 38 percent of capacity.
