Dreamcatcher Ranch, a key piece of the San Marcos River watershed upstream of Spring Lake, has been preserved in perpetuity with a conservation easement. The easement was completed this month by the San Marcos River Foundation (SMRF) and the landowners, Karen and Don Meador, with the Guadalupe Blanco River Trust (GBRT).
In addition to a generous donation by the Meadors, the funds to accomplish this were awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) through the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP), plus the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council, a program administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), and also by the Meadows Foundation in Dallas, Texas.
