Event Details

When:    Saturday, May 13, 2017

Where:   Castroville Regional Park-Amphitheater Area

Time:      Approximately 8:30 PM

Why:       To Promote Greater Awareness of our beautiful Medina County Night Skies and to learn how we can protect them for future generations.

Cost:       Absolutely nothing, but there will be a donation jug.

Notes:     The San Antonio Astronomical Society and others will have telescopes, but please bring your own binoculars and/or telescopes if you have them plus blankets or quilts or folding chairs.  There will be no concessions, so you will have to bring whatever you and your family will want to eat and/or drink. The park will be darkened for this event, so bring a flashlight so you can find your way back to your vehicle. Red lights are best for our eyes as we view the stars.

This is a FREE family event co-hosted by the FCRP, The City of Castroville, and the Hill County Alliance. For more information, contact Cliff Kaplan at 512-387-3097 or

This will be a great opportunity for local Scouts to earn their Astronomy merit badge.
