This spring, the Hill Country Alliance is proud to announce the release of a limited edition Hill Country creation, designed by local artist Olivia Gray. Olivia Gray resides in Wimberley and is a junior at Southwestern University in Georgetown. She is working on a double major in Environmental Studies and Visual Arts. The drawing she submitted to the Hill Country Alliance is her pen-and-ink representation of the natural wonders of the Texas Hill Country.
“My design for Hill Country Alliance portrays the interconnectedness between all aspects of the environment,” Olivia says. “You can see the cycles of day and night, calling to mind the passage of time. The river in the design is inspired by the Pedernales river, a place that is very special to me personally and to Central Texas.”
Olivia is passionate about protecting the environment through community and individual efforts. She also believes in the healing power of art as a tool to share the connection that we all have to the Earth and its inhabitants.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to Olivia for sharing her interpretation of the Texas Hill Country with us,” said Katherine Romans, Executive Director of the Hill Country Alliance.” Artwork, poetry, and photography are central to our work telling the story of why it is so important that we conserve this incredible place.”
This beautiful work of art was screen printed onto t-shirts and tote bags by Raw Paw in South Austin. All proceeds from the sale of this limited release printing will benefit the Hill Country Alliance. You can buy the shirt now on HCA’s store, in both tan and gray! Click here to check it out.
